About Gwinyai 
Gwinyai Dziwa is a writer, artist, journalist, photographer and entrepreneur. He wrote his first editorial article in The Sunday Mail, a national newspaper in Zimbabwe on the ‘As I See It’ column where he discussed health care policy. He later wrote the Letter from America Column and also penned The Melting Pot in the Sunday Mail where he wrote on financial markets, economic policy and technology. He wrote the Newsline America column in the Financial Gazette, another national newspaper where he wrote on social issues and policy matters. He also wrote editorial articles in the Daily News, the Chronicle, the Manica Post and the Masvingo Star among other publications. In Michigan, he sat on the editorial board of the Journal of Sustainable Development in Africa, a peer reviewed journal that publishes scholarly articles on developmental issues pertaining to Africa. His articles have been used by students in research papers at institutions such as Michigan State University and Baker University. His written articles were described by Richard Newcombe the Chief Executive of Creators Syndicate based in Los Angeles as “excellent: well-written, interesting and thoughtful.” Creators Syndicate distributes columns by the most prominent American commentators. In 2002 he contributed to the book Field Guide of Appropriate Technology (Academic Press, 2002) in which many scholars discussed varied subjects and topics.

He has given public lectures across the United States on policy issues at places such as Brown University, the University of Michigan and has participated in conferences such as the United States National Summit on Africa. As a photojournalist he has taken pictures of performing artists such as Chaka Khan, Stephen Marley, Burning Spear and many more. He has also taken pictures of media personalities such as Robin Roberts of ABC’s Good Morning America, Secretary Hillary Clinton and politicians such former presidential candidate Bill Bradley. His photography will be featured in The Music That Shaped Social Movements.

Gwinyai founded the Primary Health Care Trust where he brought together a team of public heath professionals, surgeons and entrepreneurs who shared his vision to promote primary health care in remote places. He is engaging the Chinyama Dziwa Trust to help in sponsoring the Primary Health Care Trust. The retired chief executive of General Electric, Jack Welch shared encouraging words with Gwinyai on the Primary Health Care Trust’s vision to transform Africa for the better.  He has interviewed award winning artistes and continues to publish and speak nationally. Gwinyai received a fellowship to study economics at Kalamazoo College in Michigan. He later proceeded to graduate school at the University of Texas where his interests included finance, econometrics and operations management.
